Emmy Awards 2025 nomination: trionfa Scissione, boom di candidature per The Penguin e The White Lotus. Ma non mancano gli snobbati eccellenti
Sono state annunciate le attesissime nomination per la 77ª edizione degli Emmy Awards, il riconoscimento più prestigioso della televisione statunitense. La cerimonia, organizzata come sempre dalla Television Academy, è stata presentata in diretta dal Wolf Theatre di North Hollywood, a Los Angeles, e ha subito acceso il dibattito tra fan e addetti ai lavori.
HBO domina le nomination
A dominare la scena è Scissione (Severance), serie distopica targata Apple TV+, che guida la classifica con ben 27 candidature, confermando l’alto livello artistico e tecnico già premiato nel 2022. Dietro di lei, con 24 nomination, si posiziona The Penguin, spin-off noir ambientato nell’universo di Batman firmato HBO Max. A pari merito sul gradino più basso del podio troviamo The Studio e la terza stagione di The White Lotus, entrambe con 23 candidature.
Se The White Lotus, firmata da Mike White, continua ad accumulare riconoscimenti nonostante una terza stagione accolta in modo meno entusiasta dalla critica. Personalmente stupisce il boom di Paradise (Hulu), che ottiene numerose nomination, tra cui quella per miglior serie drammatica e miglior attore protagonista (Sterling K. Brown), nonostante l’accoglienza tiepida da parte del pubblico e stampa, la serie, infatti, è derivativa di tante altre serie di genere già viste.
Tra le piattaforme, HBO Max si conferma regina indiscussa, con 142 nomination complessive, grazie ai suoi titoli di punta come The Last of Us, The White Lotus, The Pitt e Hacks.
Apple TV+ tiene il passo con produzioni di alto livello, mentre Netflix si fa notare soprattutto nella categoria miniserie con Adolescence, Monsters e l’ormai affermato Black Mirror.
Tra le curiosità, spiccano due nomination dal sapore storico: Kathy Bates, a 77 anni, diventa la donna più anziana mai nominata come miglior attrice protagonista in una serie drammatica (Matlock), mentre Harrison Ford, appena 83enne, conquista una nomination come non protagonista per la sua performance in Shrinking.
Gli snobbati (eccellenti)
Non mancano, però, le grandi assenze. Su tutte, Intervista col vampiro, serie amata dalla critica internazionale ma ancora inspiegabilmente inedita in Italia, viene completamente ignorata nelle categorie principali, ottenendo solo qualche riconoscimento tecnico. Sorprende anche l’assenza di Diego Luna e degli altri interpreti di Andor, nonostante la serie abbia raccolto un buon numero di candidature per regia e sceneggiatura. Al contrario, alcune nomination di Paradise e The White Lotus risultano eccessive rispetto alla qualità delle stagioni proposte.
Quando e dove vedere la cerimonia
La cerimonia della 77ª edizione degli Emmy Awards si terrà nella notte tra il 13 e il 14 settembre 2025, in diretta su Sky e Now, e sarà presentata dal comico statunitense Nate Bargatze.
Sarà una serata all’insegna delle grandi produzioni, delle star internazionali e — come sempre — delle polemiche. Ma per conoscere i vincitori, non resta che attendere il verdetto finale.

Sono l’unico a pensare che la terza stagione di The White Lotus abbia ricevuto forse un po’ troppo amore dall’Academy? Il cast è fortissimo, su questo non si discute, e alcune performance meritano assolutamente le nomination, però come stagione nel suo insieme secondo me ha funzionato meno rispetto alle precedenti, soprattutto per ritmo, tensione narrativa e storyline davvero memorabili. Sarebbe interessante guardare non solo al numero totale di nomination, ma anche alle categorie in cui è stata candidata, perché spesso è lì che si capisce se l’Academy sta premiando davvero la qualità di quella singola stagione oppure se conta anche il peso che il nome della serie si è costruito negli anni.
