Quando si parla di progressi nella rappresentazione della comunità LGTB nel mondo dell’intrattenimento, in tutte le sue forme, basta guardare ai numeri: sono 52 le serie comedy e 83 quelle drammatiche che sono state prese inconsiderazione per i GLAAD Media Awards del 2015, mentre tornando indietro di dieci anni i numeri erano rispettivamente 8 e 17.
Proprio ieri, infatti, sono state annunciate le nomination per la 26a edizione che vedono tra le “new entry” Transparent (Amazon) e The Imitantion Game, così come How to Get Away with Murder (ABC) e Dear White People. Tra gli altri ci sono anche Looking (HBO) e The Normal Heart (HBO) così come Pride che ha ottenuto una nomination ai Golden Globes e Love is Strange.
Ricordiamo che i GLAAD Awards premiano i media, in ogni loro forma, anche dipinti, blog e videogiochi, per la giusta ed accurata rappresentazione della comunità LGTB e delle problematiche che fanno parte della sua vita.
Quest’anno data la crescente presenza della comunità LGTB in televisione, attraverso personaggi e storyline, l’organizzazione ha aperto le categorie delle Outstanding Comedy Series e Drama Series ad un minimo di 5 fino ad un massimo di 10 nomination. ABC è il network con più nomination (6), seguito da HBO (5).
Le cerimonie si terranno il 21 Marzo a Losa Angeles ed il 9 Maggio a New York e come sempre saranno anche delle occasioni per raccogliere fondi che saranno utilizzati per supportare iniziative che riguardino la comunità LGTB e le il problema dell’uguaglianza.
